Hello. You can call me L.M.C. Knight and I’ll start off “the right way” by telling you that there is no right way of writing. I am simply a writer trying to make sense of the art while attempting to help others with my own humble advice.
DISCLAIMER: I never intended to start a blog. I know that blogging is what everyone and their grandma is doing these days, but it was never for me. That is, until I realized that the majority of job descriptions I skimmed over demanded “2 years of blogging experience and a social media platform”.
WHAT? But I’m a recluse! I’m a hermit living in the woods! I don’t even know who or where I am, so why would I want you to know too?
My solution to Blogging Crisis #1: I’ll be writing under a pen name, so that even in the days of obsessive meming, over tweeting, and private email leaks, I can attempt to maintain some semblance of a private life. What’s most important is that I have a name that people can reference and some day stamp in big shiny letters across book jackets.
What makes me a good source of writing advice? I’ve been writing for most of my life. I started my first diary entry when I was 5. Though that first entry was the only thing I wrote in my little lock-bound, butterfly patterned book, I still wrote it!
I wrote my first book at the age of 5 as well.
Centered primarily around the theme “Go dog go!” with such favorite passages as “No dog no!” and “Oh dog oh” finishing with the rousing climax of “Yes dog yes”, my first book wasn’t the pinnacle of sophistication. But hey-- at least I envisioned, wrote, illustrated, and finished it! And essentially, that's all that being a writer is.
As my mother always quoted to me when growing up, “Anybody who has survived his childhood has enough information about life to last him the rest of his days” -Flannery O’Connor. If you are reading these words now, then you have everything it takes to become a writer. I’m just here to help you along the way while trying to keep you laughing enough to forge on. All I can offer is advice, incentive, clues, hints, recommendations, my own experiences, and stories -- basically, myself.
So Sit back, enjoy, and start writing.
